Colleagues, thank you for having the confidence in my qualifications and experience to elect me as your Treasurer. This is a responsibility I take very seriously on your behalf and look forward to working with you to achieve a better understanding of ALA finances for all.

To be strong programmatically, ALA must be strong fiscally - which it is. Together, we need to continue to make wise investments in staffing, programming, publishing, advocacy and other priority areas to insure that ALA grows and develops in ways that best serve all our professional needs as well as possible.

Working with you, I want to develop different approaches to sharing and understanding ALA’s rather complex financial structure. I will try to meet and communicate regularly with division boards and their budget and finance committees and the various round tables as we search for a common understanding of ALA’s budget and financial results.
